""What's your favourite scary movie?"
With Halloween coming up, it's about this time of year I crack out the horror dvds.

My favourites include An American Werewolf in London, The Wicker Man, Dawn of the Dead, The Thing and then the more obvious picks like Psycho, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Shining, and The Exorcist.

Also love Cronenberg's body horror films like Scanners, Shivers, Rapid and The Fly.

Modern film wise, the spanish original of The Orphanage shit me up.

I hope to get through some previously unseen ones ths year like The Descent, Martyrs, Witchfinder General, Drag Me to Hell, The Mist, and The Conjuring.

What are yours?

I thought Drag me to Hell was crap but liked The Mist especially the ending which was a complete shocker having read the book first.

The Exorcist, Let the Right one in, Alien[s], The Wicker Man and the original Fly, Misery and a couple of other Stephen Kings The Shining and Salems Lot.

I loved Drag me to hell.

Eddie

Salesm lot was the scariest thing I had ever seen when I was a kid.
That bit with the Kid floating outside the window lives with me to this day *shivers*, and the bloke in the rocking chair "look at me teacher"....

The Shining always freaked me out, especially as i used to visit the hotel owned by my aunt when it was out of season and deserted.

Of the recent main stream films I rather enjoyed Insidious and A Haunting In Connecticut.

Found footage films can be very hit and miss but Grave Encounters is quite good, the sequel is a bit grim though.

As for a classic slasher, I love Carpenter's Halloween, you'd be hard pushed to beat that.

If you want balls-out mental, Rob Zombie's House of A 1000 Corpses and The Devil's Rejects are enjoyable.

The Hills Run Red (2009) is also a very fun film.

The original "The Hill's Have Eyes" was fucking traumatic for me as a kid. We would dare each other to watch it and just sit there petrified.
